This is just a brief note about me and this site so readers know where I’m coming from.
I was born in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of a Great Northern Railroad engineer and his wife, my mother a homemaker. I lived in Sioux City through my Central High School education. Not long afterward I went to live with my brother and his family in Minneapolis where I attended a technical school. Through that education I obtained a job at Northwest Airlines. In January 1966 I received a pre-induction physical notice from my SC draftboard. A short time later I enlisted in the US Army and shipped on March 14th to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri for basic training. After basic training and a leave at home in Sioux City I took a train to New York City and bused from there to Ft. Monmouth, NJ for my Military Specialty training in repair of electron equipment. After completion of that and some waiting time I shipped to Karlsruhe, W. Germany where I would be stationed for the next two years at Neurite Kasern. I left the active military in February 1969 and soon returned to work for Northwest Airlines where I was promoted to a higher level position. Now fast forward through an AA degree at the University of MN, dropping out of the Business School there and eventually taking a Senior Accounting Certificate course at Minnesota School of Business. Not long after completing that course I obtained an accounting and later an auditing position with the State of Minnesota. I was later promoted and eventually was employed by my present employer MN Teachers Retirement Association in an accounting supervisor position.
Along the way I decided to join the Army Reserves in 1981.
I also married the former Penny Hedstom in June 1978. We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary on June 23. Penny has been a great supporter for me throughout my married (and engaged and going together) life with her. Her support was critical to my success in the Army Reserves where I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant Major. I retired from the Army Reserves on January 23, 2007. I remain at my TRA position.
One more thing and it’s an important one: I believe in Jesus Christ as my saviour and Lord who I will join in heaven not because I deserve it, but because he died for my salvation from my sins. He is there for you and me. We can discuss this more along the way.
